It’s more vital than ever to create the homes people need. According to The National Housing Federation, we need to build 145,000 affordable homes every year until 2031 to meet demand, yet a recent figure released from Homes England stated 28,191 housing starts in 2020-21 were for affordable homes. This represents a 21 percent decrease compared to 2019-20 and a shortfall of 116,809 affordable homes required.
